AWS ISV Accelerate is the program that gets AWS account teams actively selling your product. It's also gated behind a requirement most early-stage companies can't yet meet.
What AWS ISV Accelerate actually is
AWS ISV Accelerate is Amazon Web Services' co-sell program for independent software vendors. Get in, and AWS account teams start actively recommending your product to their customers, with incentives in place for AWS sellers who help close the deal. It's the mechanism that turns "we're an AWS partner" from a badge on a website into actual pipeline.
What it requires, in plain terms
As of this writing, AWS asks for all of the following before a company is accepted:
- A software product in general availability on AWS Marketplace
- ACE (APN Customer Engagements) program eligibility
- Validated or Differentiated partner status in the AWS Partner Network
- A completed Amazon Payee Central account, for receiving incentive payouts
- At least 5 opportunities launched through ACE in the trailing 12 months
- At least 15 qualified ACE opportunities in the trailing 12 months
- At least one team member who has completed the "Co-Selling with AWS" learning module
- A minimum of $2,000 in recognized AWS Account revenue at the time of enrollment
Why this is a chicken-and-egg problem
Read that list again: to get AWS's help generating partner-sourced opportunities, you first need to have already generated 15 of them yourself. For a seed or Series A company with no existing AWS relationship, no dedicated partnerships hire, and no history in the ACE system, that's not a checklist — it's a wall. AWS's own data makes the payoff clear enough to explain why the wall exists: partners report closing deals faster and growing revenue faster once they're actually co-selling. The program is valuable. It's also, by design, built for companies that have already proven the motion works without it.
What actually gets you in before you technically qualify
The honest answer is relationships, not paperwork. Specific AWS Partner Development Managers (PDMs) and ISV Specialists have real discretion over which partners they introduce to account teams informally, long before a company clears the ACE Accelerate thresholds. A warm introduction, a clear point of view on which AWS customer segments your product fits, and a PDM willing to vouch for you internally will move faster than any amount of careful form-filling. This is also where having someone who's already run this playbook — who knows which conversations to have and with whom — compresses months of guesswork into weeks.
What you get once you're in
AWS reports that a majority of ISV Accelerate partners see faster deal cycles and higher average revenue growth from co-selling, on top of visibility in AWS account manager tooling and eligibility for Marketplace Private Offer incentive programs. It's worth the climb — the question is whether you climb it blind or with someone who's done it before.
